Our Working Area
It is a commonly known fact that the level of education attained by people in Isan is on average below the level at which education is compulsory. Some children do not get a chance to go to school at all as they are needed to help support the family. With only few years of education, the kind of work offered to them is merely a low-paid menial work.

Amnat Charoen Amnat Charoen
Amnat Charoen is, among all the northeastern provinces, the last to gain province status and ranked the smallest in terms of surface area. It was previously administrated by Ubon Ratchathani Province. Geographically, the province lies in a valley with low lying hills covered with laterite and fertile loose soils.

Chaiyaphum Chaiyaphum
In terms of surface area, Chaiyaphum ranks third in the region and eighth in the country. Accordingly, the geographical landscape of the province is fairly diverse, comprising of mountains, highlands and lowlands. As much as 50% of the land is richly covered with forests. There are several mountain ranges running through the heart of the province, including Phu Yuak, Phu E Thao, Phu Lankha and Phu Pang Huai which is linked to Phu Phraya Fo, a part of the Phetchabun Mountain Range.

Khon Kaen Khon Kaen
Khon Kaen is located in the central part of the Isan region. The province houses 2 big universities, namely Khon Kaen University and North Eastern University as well as Geo-Informatics Center for Development of Northeast Thailand.

Kalasin Kalasin
Kalasin is an agricultural province. Archeological evidence indicates that the area was inhabited by the ancient Lawa tribe over a thousand and six hundred years ago.

Loei Loei
As Loei is situated in the northernmost part of the Isan region, surrounded by a series of mountain ranges, the area is normally cool and foggy. It is the only province in Thailand where the temperature may drop to zero.

Mukdahan Mukdahan
Mukdahan is separated from the neighboring countries, Laos only by the Mekong River. The province is situated on a hilly, forested plateau.

Maha Sarakham Maha Sarakham
Maha Sarakham is lying in the heart of the region. Since the province houses many educational institutions, it is also known as “Takasila of Isan”.

Nong Bua Lamphu Nong Bua Lamphu
Nong Bua Lamphu, previously administrated as part of Udon Thani, has been recognized as a province in its own right since September 1993. It is an agricultural province mainly producing rice, sugar cane, tapioca and soy beans.

Nong Khai Nong Khai
Nong Khai is a province of upper Isan, locating on the bank of the Mekong River. It is linked to Laos by the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge. Since the province is well drained by the Mekong River, it is suitable for both farming and freshwater fisheries. The province is also a popular tourist destination and well known for the Naga Rocket (Bung Fai Phraya Nark) Festival.

Nakhon Ratchasima Nakhon Ratchasima
Nakhon Ratchasima, also known as Korat, is the country’s largest province and ranked second highest in terms of population. It is located on Korat Plateau with the Moon as the major river. Korat’s inner city has 4 city gates: Ponsaen Gate to the north, Chainarong Gate to the south, Choompon Gate to the east, and lastly Ponlan Gate to the west.

Nakhon Phanom Nakhon Phanom
Bordering Thakaek of Laos, Nakon Phanom is a province with mountains alternating with flat plains. The Mekong River forms its eastern boarder.

Si Sa Ket Si Sa Ket
Si Sa Ket was once a part of the great Khmer empire which is now populated by Suai people, Loations, Khmers and Nyeu people. It is separated from Cambodia by the Phanom Dongrak Range. Most locals speak Isan dialect, Khmer and Suai.

Sakhon Nakhon is located in the northern part of the region and was home to many famous monks in the Forest Tradition. The province lies on the Phu Phan Range and rich with natural beauty.

Surin Surin
Surin is a province of lower Isan and borders Cambodia. It was once a part of the great Khmer empire. In its center lies a fertile flat plain. The province enjoys diverse geographical features of thick forests, mountains, highlands and lowlands.

Ubon Ratchathani Ubon Ratchathani
Situated on the easternmost part of the Isan region, Ubon Ratchathani is the first in the country to see the sunrise. The area of what is now Yasothon once belongs to the province. To the south it borders Cambodia; to the east lies Laos. Parts of the province are drained by the Mekong River.

Udon Thani Udon Thani
As a large province, Udon Thani is a major center for transportation and tourism of the region. It occupies 11,703 square kilometers with a population of over 1,523,000. It was also a cradle of one of the world’s ancient civilizations and is known for its scenic beauty and kit-weaving.

Yasothon Yasothon
Crescent-shaped Yasothon is a province located in the southern part of the Isan region. Its northern part consists of flat highlands and southern part lowlands. Running through the province is the Chi River.
