He lives in a small rented room with his family—his parents and older sister—paying 2,500 baht per month. The family has no permanent home. His father, aged 53, just started working at a car wash for daily wages. His 54-year-old mother is unemployed because she must stay home to care for Oumboon and take him to and from school each day. His 22-year-old sister works at a chicken rice shop and is now the main financial support of the family.
At home, Oumboon tries to help with household chores such as sweeping, mopping, washing clothes, and doing the dishes to ease his family’s burden. His mother takes him to school and back every day. Although physically weaker than other children, Oumboon always tries to take care of himself at school and avoid being a burden to teachers and classmates.
While his academic performance is average, Oumboon enjoys school and is especially interested in English and Art. He believes English is essential for his future career and uses art as a creative outlet, since he can't participate in sports like other kids.
When asked about his dream, Oumboon smiles and says, “I want to be a photographer.” He loves landscape photography and believes it’s a job he can pursue despite his disability.
Given his family’s financial hardship, Oumboon is deeply worried about being unable to continue his education. That’s why he has applied for a scholarship from the EDF Foundation for the 2025 academic year. He hopes this support will allow him to complete secondary school and eventually pursue university studies—empowering him to achieve his dream and take care of his family in the future.
