Seeing the importance of Children’s Day which, in Thailand, falls on every 2nd Saturday of January, P&G, in cooperation with EDF, organised Children’s Day on Friday, January 13th at Wat Phraek Nok-Eang School. The event was held one day earlier than the exact date (January 14,) so the children can get to join the Children’s Day events at other government bodies with their parents.
In the morning of January 13, Mr Hiran Khongpreecha, Wat Phraek Nok-Eang School Director, began with an opening remark and forwarded a message with 2012 Children’s Day motto given from Thailand’s Prime Minister, Miss Yingluck Shinawatra, to the students. In 2012, the Children's Day motto is "Unity with Knowledge coupled with Wisdom, Preserve Thai Identity, Mind the Technology."
After the opening, Ms Chantakarn Sophachit, Marketing Director, Representative from P&G, gave a briefing note over the community service project titled “P&G Give Back to the Community,” then the lovely primary students gave the participants a dancing performance called “Rak Kham Khlong”— (Eng. “Love Across The River”) to the audiences. After the first show, another group of the students also came next in a dancing show with Hula Hoop exercises.
After the performances, the students were introduced to write a card to show what or how they could behave themselves as good boys and girls of their parents before hanging it on a tree called “The Tree of Good Deeds”. This would help them to recognise the good deeds they wrote which would then be instilled and grown up in their minds just like a tree in the future. After that, the children joined fun games and activities such as tricky riddles game, Stepping on Balloons, Musical Chair game, Eating Race, Water Balloon game, Changing Shorts Race, etc. Apart from the students themselves, groups of P&G volunteers, student’s parents, and even the school teachers, also participated in the games which made the day more enjoyable for everyone.
2012 Children’s Day was another great opportunity for the young students of Wat Phraek Nok-Eang School to have a good time together offered by group of volunteering P&G officers who volunteered themselves on organising recreational activities, giving scholarships and gifts to the children.
