Regional Professional Development Workshop for Primary Level (Grades 1-6) Teachers of English

Program Description:  Teachers of English at the primary level (grades 1-6) from Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam are invited to apply for participation in the Regional Professional Development Workshop.  The workshop will bring teachers to Chiang Mai, Thailand, on January 4-7, 2015, for a 15-hour workshop focused on improving teaching skills and networking with colleagues from the region.  The workshop will be led by an English Language Teaching expert from the U.S., and it will include hands-on activities.  All workshop-related costs will be paid by the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok.
 
The workshop will be intensive and highly interactive.  The U.S. Embassy seeks energetic applicants who are interested in professional development, improving their teaching skills, and sharing their experiences with colleagues and students at home.
 
 
Teacher eligibility requirements: 
1) must be a professionally active teacher of English at the primary level (grades 1-6);
2) must have at least two years of experience teaching English as a foreign language;
3) must have oral skills equivalent to at least a 2/2+ in speaking on the Foreign Service Institute’s language proficiency scale (http://fsi.state.gov/fsi/sls/ltu/default.asp?id=271);
4) does not have any existing health issues that may preclude him/her from traveling;
5) has a valid passport (or will have one by no later than November 14);
6) must be interested in staying in touch with colleagues in the region; and
7) must have basic familiarity with the Internet and web browsers
 
Instructions for completing this biodata form:  Please fill out the form in English.  The information you provide will be the basis for selecting the finalists for this workshop.  Answer the questions carefully and completely.
