Sirawit is now living under poverty line with his 70-year unhealthy grandfather and a 15-year sister in an almost ruined wooden house with old metal sheet roof that was built on the remote farmland of the relatives. There is no toilet. pipeline water or electricity available in his house. His relatives also share little space of farmland for his family to make a living by growing rice and crops but the income from agricultural farming is not enough for covering the family expenses especially education expenses of the 2 school-aged children in the family. Sirawit parents and another of his eldest sister aged 18 years were forced by poverty to work as low-pay menial workers in another province and they will go back home during the rice harvesting season.

Sirawit wakes up very early in the morning everyday to help his sisters with chores such as cooking and taking care of his grandfather who is suffering from the Alzheimer and aches. He, sometimes, need to be absent from schools to take care of his grandfather when he is sick or seeking for a menial jobs such as cutting grasses or harvesting rice in order to earn enough for a living. In order to get to school, Sirawit and his sister ride an old bicycle on the 6-kilometer tough road from home to school. Despite facing many difficulties in living his life, Sirawit still maintain his above average academic performance, be diligent on studying, and be loved by his friends and teachers.

Sirawit dreams to be a policeman someday so that he can protect people from danger and be able to earn enough income to support his family.
Sirawit told us that “I am very glad that my teacher applying me EDF scholarship to continue Grade 7 in the coming school year 2019. If I could get the scholarship, I will spend it wisely for my education and it must be very helpful in lessen the financial burden of my family on my schooling expenses”
“I am planning to us the scholarship fund for my new school uniform, schooling equipment, orther schooling necessities and meals at school” Sirawit said.
